About
Angele Lautier is a Fine artist. Her paintings, sculptures and digital art work are the product of her response to her immediate surroundings; be it a gesture in a conversation or a headline in the news. Her approach starts by linking them to an autobiographical situation and then engages in theoretical research which informs her work. Lautier enjoys painting on large canvases or wooden panels. She playfully upsets her chosen concept by applying a surreal approach together with an unexpected colour palette in a variety of media applied in soft washes as well as blocks of flat forms made up of several coats of paint. Her sculptures extend her exploration and she enjoys using an array of materials in an environmentally responsible way. Furthermore, the impact of her short films adds to the diverse platforms employed in the creation of her work. Her interest in human interaction and behaviour is evident in her work through the narrative and dialogue between the elements in her composition and across her multimedia art work.
She graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2009 in Fine Art, Sculpture and currently teaches the UAL Art and Design Foundation. As a practising artist, she enjoys the balance of teaching, curating, exhibiting and undertaking commissions.
